About Emerson

Emerson is a 12 year-old, social 7th grader that resides in Cumming, GA. He started racing a go-kart at the age of 5 in Portland, OR. Things got more serious after moving to Dallas/Ft. Worth at age 7, and he was able to win a national championship in Micro Swift at age 9 (Stars Championship Series) in 2023. He moved to the Atlanta area at age 10, and started racing a US Legend Car in the summer of 2025, winning three races at Echo Park Speedway in the Chargers Division before moving up to Young Lions in the fall.

Aside from racing, Emerson is a typical middle school kid who loves spending time with his friends, playing football for Liberty Middle School, and golfing.

Cordele Motor Speedway

We were able to add a round at Cordele Motor Speedway to our schedule with funding from Akins Petroleum Company, and after the first attempt to find a weekend to go got rained out, we were able to get there on August 15th for a Double Feature Night. The track at Cordele is very different from EchoPark Speedway - it's 50% longer, has banked turns, and is considerably wider. He goes into turns at EPS at 70 MPH, but he's going over 90 in Cordele.

It's a great exercise to need to adjust driving styles, and although it took a little while, we were able to get it mostly figured out by the end of the night.

There were 12 Legend Cars at the event, so every class was lumped together. With only two Young Lions there, it was great to race aginst the other classes. Emerson finished 5th in the first race and 4th in the second race. We split the wins with the other YL competitor. The 77 Speed Shop had a successful evening, winning three classes in the second feature race, and the top 3 for fastest laps were the 77 Speed Shop racers.
