Next Race

Emerson's next race is Thursday Thunder Round 9 on July 9th.

About Emerson

Emerson is a 12 year-old, social 7th grader that resides in Cumming, GA.  He started racing a go-kart at the age of 5 in Portland, OR.  Things got more serious after moving to Dallas/Ft. Worth at age 7, and he was able to win a national championship in Micro Swift at age 9 (Stars Championship Series) in 2023.  He moved to the Atlanta area at age 10, and started racing a US Legend Car in the summer of 2025, winning three races at Echo Park Speedway in the Chargers Division before moving up to Young Lions in the fall.

Aside from racing, Emerson is a social kid who loves spending time with his friends, playing football for Liberty Middle School, and golfing.

Thursday Thunder Echo Park Speedway - Hampton, GA Rounds 7&8 - June 24-25, 2026

Being past the halfway point in the Thursday Thunder schedule, we entered this back-to-back racing week with optimism to build off Round 6's podium finish.

Round 7 started with a respectable P3 in qualifying, and we knew we were in a good position to get through the first few laps cleanly using our inside position.  It didn't go exactly to plan, as Emerson made a little contact an in inopportune time, which knocked him off his line, and he lost his position.  While working to gain it back, he came under fire and was in 5th place for a brief period of time.  After a couple crafty passes, he resecured 3rd and drove away to a comfortable third place, podum finish.

Round 8 was an insane qualifying with P2-P5 ending up 0.01 sec from each position.  We qualified P5, which isn't a horrible place to start the race, but we had a horrible jump off the line, and instead of working our way forward, Emerson got a little overzealous on lap 2 and spun both himself and another car, meaning we had to restart at the tail of the field.  The restart almost went as well as possible, but we got pinched down by a car that slid in turn 3, which slowed us both down.  Then we got into a two lap battle with bumper shots being traded.  After Emerson got around him, he drove away to chase down the mid-pack.  He got to them at the end, but we ran out of laps before we had any chance of passing for a top-5 position, finishing in 6th.

Thanks to Akins Petroleum, 77 Speed Shop, and Last Lap Insider for the support.  We were pleased to earn our fourth podium of the season, but we missed an opportunity to earn valuable points as we near the end of Thursday Thunder's 10-race schedule.

Restart Lap 2 - Getting a nice shot to the rear bumper

Giving it back next lap.  Sometimes you're the hammer, sometimes you're the nail.  After Emerson moved the #48 up the track, he was able to use his speed to make sure his rear bumper was never in reach of the #48 again.

We got another P3 plaque for round 7.  The top 6-8 cars each week are very fast, and we're always pleased when we can bring some hardware home
